As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for early risk retirement for manufacturability. You will develop manufacturing processes and provide related technical support. You will manage manufacturing related projects, permanently solve issues and coordinate activities with various internal and external suppliers. You will ensure schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are met. You must be able to take ownership, drive, and support development changes from the beginning of tool introduction through successful product production (zero defect target).Responsibilities:Concurrent engineering: Develop Bills of Material (BOM) collaboratively with suppliers and engineers Define and drive the optimum product architecture to enable a Configure to Order (CTO) strategy. The product architecture will enable a balance of outsourced and insourced assemblies. Enable a world class quality product via a distributed test strategy validating product performance at each step of the assembly process. Collaborate with engineering team to optimize product design and specifications. Implement best known methods related to Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Test (DFT). Collaborate with engineering and software team to identify critical inspection and test parameters. Work with key stakeholders to evaluate and find design issues or areas of risk during design or development from a manufacturing perspective. Prevent issues from reaching manufacturing.Volume production build & test readiness: Develop BOM structure including assemblies and phantom structure to match sourcing, manufacturing, and test strategy. Execute engineering change masters (ECMs), incorporate shop floor control, create effective BOMs and routers managed in SAP. Define critical method instructions (MIs). Define & implement optimum test sequence starting from subassemblies all the way final test. Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers. Support large electromechanical tool ETO (Engineer to Order) and CTO manufacturing. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment, finding opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and productivity. Perform disposition and rework notifications for non-conforming material. Work with final test operations to support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical, and control related issues. Be able to permanently resolve these issues to prevent recurrence.Problem solving: Analyze and resolve technical and operational problems (Fishbone, 8D analysis, SPC). Implement process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Solve issues at large on the manufacturing floor via a structured data based preventative action plan. Recommend and implement measures to reduce cost, improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.Program management: Support the successful transitioning of new products from design to manufacturing launch and volume production (multiple times). Participate in product life cycle projects for implementation of new products into production at contract manufacturer site from manufacturing engineering role. Provide regular status reports for activities relating to contract manufacturers and supplier issues as well as objective reporting.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial) with at least 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and at least 6 years of design experience is required. Experience with process improvement methodologies is required as is experience transitioning new products from design to manufacturing launch and volume production. Experience in complex equipment/product manufacturing is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge in using tools for virtual design process such as VisMockuUp, Technomatix, Cameo/ CATIA, Creo or similar. Experience with SolidWorks-composer/Tol Analyst/Design Check/interference analysis. Strong structured problem-solving experience (8D, fishbone diagrams,5S). SAP enterprise resource planning experience. Experience with systems designs input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software/controls compatibility is preferred. Schematic and wire harness design knowledge. Experience using Modular BOM's, Design reusable parts for maximum scaling efficiency. Vacuum (UHV) and clean room experience highly desirable. Experience with SPC and process control methodologies and the use of software such as Minitab, JMP, SPC for Excel required. Knowledge of design and quality tools to evaluate manufacturability (DF) and design for failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA). Mindset with a strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, operating, maintenance, and job safety instructions/procedures) provided in verbal, written, or pictorial form. Semiconductor machine tool manufacturing experience a plus. Knowledge of signal process methodologies (transfer functions, cross-correlation) is a plus. Certification in Lean Six Sigma is a plus. Must be willing to travel on occasion.#LI-KB1The expected salary range for this position is $106,000 - $135,000 + bonus + benefits.
