Lab Courier - Per Diem - Variable

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Laboratory Administration. Responsible for providing high-quality service to hospital clients, physicians and staff. The lab courier is to shuttle between medical offices, Patient Service Centers, and the laboratory. Couriers pick up and deliver mail, supplies, and specimens for testing, using a fixed schedule that brings them to their stops at approximately the same time every day.Core Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the packing and delivery of documents/mail, office, requested specimen collection and other medical supplies in a time efficient manner to each designated site within the couriers assigned route.Couriers must follow DOT protocols for safety and specimen transport regulations when transporting items collected from off sites and PSC locations.Required to communicate with consumers during pick up/delivery to ensure all items are accounted for and keeping open communication with Outreach Supervisor and client support representatives if complications are encountered.Provides complete and accurate documentation for STAT pick-ups, vehicle maintenance log and dispatch log.Laboratory couriers are responsible for completing all mandatory education and competency testing within deadlines.Demonstrates an ability to maintain productivity with adaption to changes in workload level, work, and changes in customer service technology.Acts as a laboratory liaison greets patients, visitors, answers telephone, places a calls and relays messages to appropriate personnel.Plans courier routes and daily responsibilities by prioritizing task before embarking on any delivery and ensures that no more than 3 pickup request a year are missed.Collects STATs within designated time frame and delivers them to lab, notifying specimen processing or supervisor of STAT upon arrival.Education/Experience Requirements
Required:High School graduateCustomer service experiencePreferred:Clinical Laboratory experience preferred.Six months to one year route delivery experienceLicensure/Certification Requirements
Required:Current and Valid NYS Drivers License in good standingMinimum of three years of a clean, driving record.Disclaimer
