Global Commodity Manager

for our

Dallas, TX HQ!

This role will matrix manage Trinity's procurement team for the standard components category which includes mainly undercar components such as wheels, couplers, axles, bearings, and yokes along with brakes and several other miscellaneous components. The standard components category is comprised of components that are used across all rail car types and is one of the largest and most critical spend categories for Trinity.

What You'll Do:

Develop category strategies that balance cost minimization, supply assurance, supply flexibility, quality, and riskManaging a global supply base and shifting spend among portfolio of suppliers based on market conditionsNegotiate corresponding supply agreementsWorking cross-functionally to develop new suppliers and manage them through the supplier and part approval processesDrive improvement in the category performance in the areas of cost, delivery, and qualityCommunicate improvement plans and results regularly to business leadersCoordinate with Purchasing to assure execution is aligned with strategySupport Purchasing with supply assurance and other performance related issuesMonitor market conditions and industry supply chain statusSummarize and communicate relevant information to Trinity business leadersWork with supplier quality and others to audit suppliers compliance to required processes and proceduresUnderstand inbound supply chain and work with Logistics and others to assure costs are minimized while maintaining supply assuranceUnderstand the portfolio of Trinity supply agreements in your category and manage the market share commitments to both match contractual obligations and maximize competitiveness for Trinity

QualificationsWhat You'll Need:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College preferably with degree in business or engineering. An M.B.A. is preferred.Minimum 12-years experience in procurement including purchasing and/or strategic sourcingMinimum 2+ years experience in strategic sourcing and knowledge of strategic sourcing processesAbility to travel 20% of the timeStrongly prefer steel industry knowledge and experienceExperience in manufacturingKnowledge of material requirements planning (MRP)Prior rail industry experience is a plusProcurement certifications such as CPSM are a plusAbility to speak Spanish is a plus
