Role Qualifications:Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Technology field.Master of Science in Electrical Engineering a plus.Professional Engineering License preferred.7+ years of experience in engineering design in the renewable energy industry.Experience either in Utility Scale or Commercial/Industrial industries.Developing scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans.Highly knowledgeable in using AutoCAD for technical work.Previous experience in engineering consulting preferred.Proficient understanding of:
Evaluating energy storage technology and providing guidance for clients on the best technology for the application.Knowledge of solar panel system components and design principles.Perform energy production simulations and optimize PV system design.Creating electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and connection diagrams for PV and energy storage systems.Developing or directing the creation of equipment specifications, procurement, and factory acceptance testing of batteries, inverters, battery enclosures, and other miscellaneous equipment associated with energy storage projects.Applying proper codes to design (NEC, NESC, building code, etc.)Perform load and voltage drop calculations.
High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.This person will direct the renewable energy design team.The position requires approximately 10% travel to client's offices and project sites.Enjoys taking on a leadership role as a technical expert in our field and as a servant leader in the community and within the company.Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communication while working with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone).Enjoys developing and nurturing strong client relationships.Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of engineers and designers who prepare drawings for all aspects of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage electrical power systems. This includes creating one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, sizing, and routing of conduits and cables, grounding design, general arrangement drawings, equipment selection, wiring diagrams, trench section drawings, inverter layout drawings, and layout and detail drawings.Provide conceptual and high-level designs during the bidding stage of projects.Coordinate projects with vendors, structure engineers, and civil engineers.Prepare various documents and reports associated with projects and required studies. Software experience utilizing SKM, ETAP, Easy Power, or similar software is preferred.Stay current within the industry through continued education and participation in conferences.GPD believes passionately that everyone on our team knows they are a valued member of our employee-owned company.
