Description

Join us as an Administrative Assistant in our Public Works Department and be a vital part of a team committed to supporting our residents and enhancing city operations.
This position provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the department, including its various divisions. This role is essential for managing customer service needs, coordinating projects, and assisting in daily operations. Our ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a positive City image through responsive, high-quality service.Examples of Duties
Provide clerical support, including answering phones, scheduling, taking meeting minutes, data entry, preparing correspondence, and more.Respond to inquiries regarding City services in person, by phone, or electronically, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication.Prepare and manage agendas, reports, and various documents using software Microsoft Office and other software.Manage JULIE locate requests by coordinating with internal departments, ensuring efficient handling of Emergency and Rush locates, and maintaining organized records.Provide backup coverage for coworkers in Public Works as needed, assist with special projects, and support City-wide and departmental goals through collaboration and proactive efforts.Occasional additional hours or attendance at evening meetings as needed to take minutes.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.One or more years of administrative experience; experience in municipal or public sector environments preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other specialized software.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, officials, and the public.Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, accuracy, and file management.Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize efficiently, and work independently under general supervision.Competency in basic math, report preparation, and document proofreading for grammar, spelling, and formatting.Demonstrated reliability in handling confidential material and managing complex information.Possession of a valid driver's license.If selected, successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
