Job Duties
The Senior Electrician will inspect, repair, and maintain VDOT tunnels in a professional, safe, and cost-effective manner that meets VDOT's strategic plan goals.
Core Responsibilities of the position include (but are not limited to):
Diagnose Repairs: Proficiently use electrical test equipment, prints, and diagnostic equipment to accurately analyze electrical and mechanical equipment. Isolate malfunctions, perform repairs, fabricate and make modifications in a timely manner.Job Safety: Determine and demonstrate proper work site protection techniques. Ensure workplace safety by identifying workplace hazards and making suggestions for improvement. Wear proper personal protection equipment.Time Management: Maximize performance and cause no disruption to shift or activities by effectively using time management. Gain and maintain a thorough knowledge of standard operating procedures and other applicable regulations.Minimum Qualifications
Skill in basic computer operations.Experience working with AC and DC electrical circuits, low and high voltage electrical circuits, electrical switchgear, and heavy-duty electrical equipment.Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical malfunctions.Experience using, reading, and interpreting complex electrical and mechanical reports.Experience working with control circuits, controls for pumps, motors, and various electrical systems.Valid Driver's LicenseDPOR Journeyman level Electrician certification or ability to obtain DPOR Journeyman Electrician certification within 6 months of employment and maintain thereafter.Additional Considerations
Experience in electrical-mechanical maintenance related to transportation or facility infrastructure.Experience in Programable Logic Controllers.DPOR Master Electrician license.
