The Drive Inverter team designs the power electronics that move Tesla's cars - quickly, efficiently, and reliably. Delivering hundreds of kilowatts of power from the battery to the motor, the drive inverter integrates high voltage power electronics, low voltage circuits, controls, functional safety, thermal management, and mechanical packaging. Electronic Design Engineers on the Drive Inverter team deliver component designs to ensure the system-level performance of the industry's highest production volume traction inverters.
Responsibilities
End-to-end ownership of new inverter PCBA designs including specifications, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring up, validation, and overseeing reliability and functional testingCollaboration with cross functional teams (mechanical, firmware, test, reliability etc.) to see products through high volume manufacturingDesign and execute high voltage and high current validation of new inverter designsDebug complex component interactions at the vehicle levelRequirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experienceDigital and analog circuit design, including high voltage circuits or power supply designPrinted circuit board design (we use Altium) and initial bring-up: debugging, soldering, wiring, mechanical assemblyFamiliarity with embedded firmware, microcontrollers and their peripherals, python scripting or similarFamiliarity with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power suppliesPower semiconductors (MOSFETs, IGBTs)Electric motors, thermal design, and/or mechanical designAutomotive networking (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)Basic control theory, including importance of sensor bandwidths, filteringAutomation of lab equipment (GPIB/SCPI/VISA)Compensation and BenefitsBenefits

$84,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
