The Director, Global Scientific & Regulatory (GSRA) -Ingredion Nutrition Center, is a new role responsible for bringing to life an elevated and robust nutrition capability. This role will support Ingredion's commitment to delivering healthful ingredient solutions by providing strategic nutrition leadership to our scientists. The Director will elevate outreach, capabilities, and regulatory opportunities for ingredient claims, labels, and product messaging, supporting our 'One Team' global business model to make healthy taste better.
Key Responsibilities:
Team & Business Partnership:
- Develop and implement global nutrition strategies for innovative and advantaged ingredients.
- Lead a team of expert nutrition scientists, defining data needs to achieve health-related claims and guiding technical teams.
- As a member of the Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs (GSRA) leadership team, collaborate with colleagues on nutritional strategies and ingredient developments, ensuring compliance with geography-specific regulations.
- Coordinate and establish a partnership team model to assess nutrition science, claims, messaging, and labeling opportunities.
- Partner with innovation leaders to support product development and market strategies with nutrition-related insights.
- Advise on appropriate claim language based on clinical research and public data.
- Provide timely communication of nutrition-related scientific initiatives to team members and business partners.
- Secure insights from diverse data sources to support growth agendas and identify product portfolio opportunities.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding nutrition-related standards and practices.
External Engagement:
- Interact with US government departments, such as the US FDA, and key international global government agencies and industry associations to progress nutritional programs and regulations.
- Provide thought leadership to elevate Ingredion's reputation in nutrition-related food ingredient matters.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key external organizations and influencers in the nutrition community.
- Engage with scientific experts, industry groups, and regulatory leaders to influence external developments in line with Ingredion's priorities.
- Navigate and advise on global nutrition-related regulatory requirements, industry positions and emerging opportunities.
Compliance:
- Lead governance of nutritional data, partnering with GSRA compliance leaders and working closely with Ingredion nutrition scientists.
- Advise and coordinate actions on regional nutrition-related trends and legislation.
- Develop operational plans and secure endorsement from key stakeholders for successful execution.
- Provide guidance and support to customers regarding health-related ingredient solutions and compliance.
- Review customer-facing marketing materials for compliance and alignment with scientific literature and industry standards.
Qualified candidates will have:
- PhD/MS in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Food Science, Food Regulation, or a relevant field.
- 10+ years of experience in the food industry, with a focus on nutrition science and regulatory affairs.
- Proven success in nutritional claims development and influencing nutrition-related regulations.
- Experience preparing premarket claims approvals and filing support dossiers across multiple regulatory agencies.
- Strong ability to interpret science and communicate regulatory impacts to technical and business audiences.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific and technical issues clearly.
- Proven staff management experience across diverse cultures and geographies.
- Ability to influence and negotiate in a multi-stakeholder, global environment.
- Established thought leader with a strong network in the Nutrition and Regulatory space.
- Strategic agility and motivation to engage in day-to-day executional work.
- Technical proficiency with online systems for product data management.

Pay Range:$173,000.00-$230,666.67 Annual
This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
Incentive Compensation:
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
