As a professional practitioner, the RN - Telemetry assumesthe responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care of telemetrypatients. The RN - Telemetry demonstrates the ability to make clinicaljudgments in an effective and efficient manner, with supervision. The RN - Telemetry exhibits critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordination of patient care, and consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards while remaining accountable forproviding patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, andevaluate patient care on telemetry unitPerforms focused interview to identify specific patientneedsAssesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient's conditionMonitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of anychangesRecords vital signs, including oxygen levels, bloodpressure, breathing patterns, etc.Monitors patient progress and updates patient medicalrecords as neededResponds to patients experiencing cardiac painPerforms various diagnostic testsManages and administers medicationMonitors and uses the electrocardiogram, EKG, or ECGEducates patients on cardiac health and communicates withpatient's family when applicableAdministers tests, analyzes lab results, and reports them tothe physicianDocuments the patient's plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventionsIdentifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient carerequirementsPerforms interventions according to identified priorities,plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standardProvides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patientenvironmentRevises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes inmedical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventionsDocuments patient's response to nursing and otherinterventionsUses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meetpatient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including established prioritiesMonitors safety and effectiveness of the environment andequipmentMinimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which thenurse practicesOne year experience in Telemetry PreferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefits
