POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver helps create a joyful and vibrant experience for seniors in our community by supervising and coordinating transportation to and from activities and community-related events and by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSParticipates in outings.Drives community transportation vehicle safely for outings.Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.Complies with local traffic regulations.Reports delays or accidents.Inspects vehicle; checks gas, oil, and water before departure.Keeps the vehicle clean and organized inside and out at all times.Reports and documents any items in need of repair or service.If needed, secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.Cleans and services vehicle with fuel as needed.Keeps records of trips.Maintains a professional and caring attitude toward seniors. Must be kind and patient.Knows all documentation procedures and how to use emergency log.EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.1-2 years of experience driving a van/bus.1 year of experience in working with seniors preferred.Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Ability to work independently.Must pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.Valid State driver's license and participate in driver safety training.Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.Ability to work a flexible schedule.Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with seniors, community members, volunteers and other employees.Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for seniors, staff, and visitors.
