This position requires providing service to the following age population(s) (Adults) in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.______________________________________________________________________________DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESPerforming comprehensive and problem focused histories and physical examination, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis. Formulate a treatment plan for orthopedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgement on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professional.middot; First or second assist in surgery to include, but not limited to, retracting, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of casts, braces, dressings, splints.middot; Complete pre- operative orders, history and physical, post operative orders, discharge medications, and discharge instructions.middot; Perform wound care, suturing of external lacerations., removal of sutures and application of dressing, trigger point or joint injections, joint aspirations, splinting fractures.middot; Write orders, formulate, and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for outpatient patients. Written orders must be countersigned by a physician. Inform surgeon of changes in patient statues and initiate therapy as directed by the physician.middot; Respond to Emergency department requests.middot; Dictate and/ or write daily hospital notes, pre and postoperative notes and discharge summariesmiddot; Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces, and other orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislationmiddot; Evaluate, screen, and council patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources.middot; Participate and assist in the preoperative evaluation of patients to undergo surgery, including discussing risks and benefits or surgery, post operative expectations, as well as completing appropriate surgical consents.middot; Will run independent concurrent office hours with their immediate supervisor, seeing established patients, performing injections, aspirations, suture removal, wound dressings, etc.middot; Order and review diagnostic studies such as MRI/ CAT scans, laboratory studies, EMG, EKG, chest x-ray, routine tests.middot; Provide instructions and counseling to the patient relating to surgical procedures, medical problems, and therapies, including limitation of activity and diet.middot; Answering emails, AECIS messages, and patient calls in a timely manner.middot; Maintaining compliance with institutional training as well as maintaining active ACLS certification.middot; Performs other job- related activities/ duties required.middot; Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relationships with the public, patients, and other personnel.middot; Attends weekly Department of Orthopedic Surgery Grand Rounds.middot; Actively supports the goals of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.middot; Maintain appropriate state and national licensure.______________________________________________________________________________Education/Training/Experience: (indicate if required or preferred)Masterrsquo;s DegreeNational Board Certification as a Medical Physician AssistantCovid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
