The
VP E&S Property
position will report directly to the Chief Insurance Officer. We are seeking a candidate with extensive product leadership experience, particularly in E&S lines. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in writing single risk E&S business. This role demands a proactive approach to market monitoring and leadership within the E&S department. Candidates should possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and be adept at communicating expertise effectively, adding immediate value to the E&S department.
Responsibilities
Lead strategy for GUARD’s growing E&S Property portfolio
Will have a leadership role in determining the organization’s
Product mix
Underwriting guidelines
Natural catastrophe budget management and deployment
Rating and forms management
Oversee and manage all single-risk E&S underwriters in addition to strong influence over all delegated authority underwriting
Help with the selection and implementation of requisite underwriting tools and systems
Lead the development and management of shared and layered E&S property product
Assist with post event loss evaluations for proper reserving prudency
Collaborate with company CUO and organization leadership on strategy, top and bottom line delivery
Review and approve underwriting decisions by team as needed
Engage with and travel to key external partners/brokers and personally underwrite business as needed
Qualifications
8+ years of E&S Property underwriting experience
Thorough understanding of the E&S property insurance landscape including relationships with key trading partners
Experience implementing new underwriting systems
Management experience preferred
Nat Cat management/budgeting experience
Ability to advise on underwriting best practices and ensure compliance standards for E&S unit
Mixed background of portfolio and single-risk underwriting preferred
