Position Details

This job posting is for a Warehouse Worker opening in our Nutrition Services Department. The work schedule is (8) hours per day, Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm.The work year for this position starts in August and continues through June, with summers off, and follows the district calendar .

Position Summary:

A warehouse worker engages in receiving, storing, inventory control, processing and delivering all orders for food and supplies for the Nutrition Services department.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Attendance is required. All employees must report for assigned days and hours of work.Processes Nutrition Services mail according to established procedures.Receives, checks and inspects all deliveries of food items and disposables.Assists with the loading/unloading of all food supplies and related food service equipment.Processes orders and stages for delivery of food orders in a timely manner.Maintain warehouse in a clean, safe and sanitary condition, storing all incoming food in an organized manner to ensure first in, first out distribution.Assists in conducting quarterly inventories for all items stored in the central warehouse, cooler or freezer.Follows all HACCP procedures, documenting any and all quality problems or and/or safety concernsDelivers special orders according to haul order requests and school supplies as needed in department vehicles.Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with the supply chain to ensure adequate inventory is on hand to fulfill the needs of the Nutrition Services department.Participates in meetings and in-service education programs as scheduled.Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned.Knowledge:

Portland Public Schools warehouse operations and storage procedures.Principles of food receiving, delivering, rotating, handling and storage.Acceptable product standards, including quality and sanitation aspects.Skills and Abilities:

Safely operate all gas or electric fork lift trucks, hydraulic pallet lift and power/hand tools.Operate standard equipment including computers and phones.Lift up to 75 lbs, push and pull up to 400 lbs.Stand and/or walk for up to eight hours on cement quarry tile floors.Use full range of motion.Work with other employees in routine business contact.Plan daily work effectively to ensure maximum efficiency for Nutrition Services Department with a minimum of supervision.Ability to compute simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.Ability to work in cold and freezing temperatures for short periods of time (walk-in refrigerators and freezers).Maintains a current Multnomah County Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certification.Must have a valid Class C Oregon driver’s license and demonstrate skill in driving Nutrition Services department vehicle (van).Demonstrate ability to exercise careful judgment, diplomacy, and tact with co-workers and other district staff and outside personnel.Supervision:

Reports to the supply chain supervisor and manager.Salary:

$19.15 per hour (DCU Contract in Appendix A)
