The University of Utah Division of General Surgery seeks an ABS certified surgeon with experience in bariatric surgery to join our Section of Gastroesophageal and Bariatric Surgery. The candidate should have established clinical expertise in bariatric surgery with the ability to perform a range of bariatric surgical procedures beyond purely restrictive operations as well as revisional bariatric surgery. The position will also include the opportunity to perform some primary, revisional, and complex benign gastroesophageal and general surgical procedures. Experience and comfort with flexible endoscopy for the workup and management of bariatric patients and participation in our tertiary care center’s bariatric and foregut call pool will be required. Practicing surgeons at the assistant, associate or full professor level are preferred, although current fellows and recent graduates with an ASMBS fellowship certificate (or eligibility) will also be considered. Robotic skills need not be a priority, but would be supported. As part of our academic mission, there is an expectation to participate in scholarly activities and the successful candidate should also have a strong interest in education, with a track record of fostering a safe space for the education and professional development of trainees.
