The job:
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as Global Medical Director, Allergy on the Medical and Scientific Affairs (MSA) team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead the strategic and functional aspects for the ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD).
This role is responsible for developing a global strategy to drive growth within the medical domain of allergy. You will play a crucial role in raising awareness internally and externally about in vitro diagnostic products and laboratory systems for the treatment of patients with allergic diseases.
Our preference would be for you to be based at our Uppsala site in Sweden which is our global HQ for the IDD, however, we are also open to fully remote candidates based anywhere in Europe or the US/Canada (providing you are willing to align your working hours with European time zone). Regular international travel will be required – between 25% to 50% of working time – including frequent trips to Uppsala, Sweden.
What will you do?
Medical, Scientific and Clinical Strategy
Develop a comprehensive medical strategy to raise awareness and educate healthcare professionals about our allergy diagnostic products.
Build a global publication strategy to improve the performance and medical relevance of IDD's current and future products.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in medical and clinical environments to ensure that IDD remains a leader in the field.
Medical Expertise
Apply your medical knowledge to assist different departments, such as marketing, sales, manufacturing, quality and regulatory affairs. You will also collaborate with healthcare professionals, patients, and advocacy groups externally.
Stay informed about disease state paradigm changes, global standard of care clinical diagnostics algorithms, competitive intelligence, and key opinion leader views and opinions.
Attend congresses and company-sponsored symposia to stay up-to-date on the latest developments.
Proactively work to build and maintain a high level of global allergy Key Opinion Leaders.
Own the MSA management/contribution of the Post Market Surveillence process and the Investigator Initiated Studies for allergy.
Support approval, in agreement with the global business partners, of advertising, promotional, as well as scientific and educational materials.
Management
Lead and manage the Allergy Medical Advisors team, consisting of two individual contributors.
Communicate medical affairs information effectively to other teams within the organization.
Develop processes and capabilities to optimize the delivery of MSA services.
Build strong relationships and partnerships with cross-functional team members.
Who we are looking for:
An advanced degree (MD or MD/PhD) is required.
Proven experience (7+ years) in the diagnostics or medical device industry, including consultancy and academia.
Demonstrated ability leading a team dedicated to the medical specialty of allergy.
Experience in clinical diagnostics laboratory and treating allergy patients is strongly preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific data and concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and strategic influencing skills.
Proven ability to perform successfully in a highly matrixed global environment.
Willingness to travel up to 25%-50% of working time, including international travel.
Advanced level of English

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Sweden is kr1,041,100.00–kr1,561,600.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
