Paid training for CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements is available.
*This job requires a training period prior to the assumption of duties. The training period includes instructional time and written tests in order to obtain a permit. Successful completion of the school bus endorsement test is required 14 days after the permit is granted.

Transport and/or supervise students over specified routes according to an established time scheduleTeach, monitor, and supervise safe bus practices to ensure student safetyKnow, understand, and implement specific safety accommodations for students with disabilities, such as those documented in an IEP, Section 504 plan, etc.Properly supervise all bus operations, including oversight of Bus AidesAttend required meetings pertinent to the positionEffectively communicate with school personnel regarding any student-related issuesExhibit through performance, an understanding of effective behavior managementMaintains records and submits reports in a timely fashionAble to follow prescribed procedures for body fluid and waste clean-up as neededAchieve and maintain prescribed certifications per job requirements through training as provided by the DistrictPerform all pre-trip and post-trip inspectionsClean bus as requiredComply with traffic regulationsDrive safely and professionallyEnforce the student discipline codeManually operate wheelchair lift, when requiredCarry out other duties as assignedPhysical Demands
Occasionally lift up to 50 poundsMust sit for long periods of time while driving a school busFrequently stand up from driver's seat and walkFrequently walk up and down stairsFrequently walk on a variety of ground surfaces, including, but not limited to, paved, gravel, grass, or dirtFrequently bend and twist the torso and neckFrequently use repetitive arm, wrist and hand movementsUse close, distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perceptionAttendance
