Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our
Duke
Otolaryngology Clinics
located in
Durham, North Carolina
to work in tandem with attending physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services to otolaryngology patients. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat adult Otolaryngology patients in an autonomous outpatient clinic setting clinic to include new, consult, established, and post-operative evaluations.Work alongside the physician in their outpatient clinic meet the patients, help write clinic notes, order diagnostic testing, help coordinate surgeries. Help to collect records prior to clinic to prepare for the clinic encounter.Hold a weekly virtual sleep apnea and snoring screening clinic for new patients referred to our Sleep Surgery program.Be involved in the planning, growth, and leadership of the Sleep Surgery Program.Manage APP's electronic In Basket, including communicating with patients to answer questions and concerns, provide test results, renew prescriptions, communicate with staff, and work with insurers for prior authorization.Coordinate patient care by communicating with medical providers from both within and outside our institution. Be a point of contact for the patients and referring providers.Utilize our electronic medical record system to: review the chart, write clinic notes, perform video visits, communicate with patients including answering questions and concerns, provide test results, renew prescriptions, communicate with staff, and work with insurers for prior authorization.Participate in medical education including (but not limited to): teaching Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Students, post-graduate APP interns, and other learners in the practice of Otolaryngology medicine.Participate in clinical research projects conducted by our research team.Maintain all documentation and certification required by law to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state of North Carolina.Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
Nurse Practitioners:Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.Physician Assistants:Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.Certification
BLS required.License
Nurse Practitioners:Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.Physician Assistants:Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.Experience
1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
