Job Description

PURPOSE:

The GAMA Scientific/Medical Director- Strategic Accounts role is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of identified aesthetic strategic accounts. They are responsible for the execution of all medical affair activities and ensuring scientific engagements with external experts (EE)/Health Care Professionals (HCP) within the strategic accounts are of high quality and aligned with other in-field team members, such as GAMA MSL Directors and Director- Strategic Accounts, to ensure a coordinated approach to best meet stakeholder needs.

The Scientific/Medical Director, Strategic Accounts establishes a productive work environment, by creating trust and respect with the Medical Affairs field leadership as well as Director(s)-Strategic Accounts; executes on medical affairs plans for HCPs in targeted accounts through needs assessment, and the development and implementation of strategies that achieve customer and Allergan goals; including short-term opportunities, as well as a longer-term goals that scientifically support the Medical Aesthetic Market.

The Scientific/Medical Director- Strategic Accounts interfaces and aligns with other members of the Medical Affairs and Commercial teams and must work collaboratively with numerous cross functional stakeholders and teams to ensure all in-field teams are working together to provide an appropriately coordinated approach to best execute strategies and plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to the development and fully implement scientific interaction plans for Facial Aesthetics for both on market products and pipeline products in a timely manner. Provides field scientific support across the lifecycle of a product including both planning and execution and conducts ongoing analysis of clinical and market trends to develop key supporting strategies that meet business objectives.

Proactively participate in Strategic Accounts Team Meetings ensuring the field medical voice is present to help with area plans and scientific training. Ensures optimal utilization of technology (e.g., CRM, virtual engagement tools, P2P platforms) according to requirements and guidance provided.

Proactively analyzes business needs working in conjunction with the MSL Directors and the U.S. GAMA Medical/Scientific Directors (if applicable) to identify opportunities where Medical/Scientific Director- Strategic Accounts can enhances business results.

Ensure Medical/Scientific Director- Strategic Accounts activities are appropriately aligned to the Brand and Medical strategies and plans while ensuring compliance with all national, local guidelines and company policies and procedures.

Provide expertise and feedback to coach field MSLs in their most important activities (including engagement planning, ensuring that EE/HCP interactions are of high quality in scientific content and interaction approach (Challenger) and scientific storytelling).

Maintains proactive and appropriate communication within the broader affiliate Medical Team and Brand Team for therapeutic area/product as it relates to Strategic Account activities/outcomes that support the achievement of business objectives.

Conduct regular field visits and 1-1s with key stakeholders in identified strategic accounts to ensure access to current medical and scientific information related to AA portfolio.

Ensure appropriate scientific support and training is provided to the internal stakeholders (i.e. sales training, Strategic Accounts teams etc).

Ensure appropriate participation in team meetings and contributing to development of plans and monitoring of progress on such plans (mainly related to Medical/Scientific Director- Strategic Accounts role).

Highlighting value to the business by communicating key achievements and metrics with appropriate internal stakeholders and leadership.

Keeping up to date with the AA FAS and BC portfolio, scientific narratives and main study data (at appropriate level) to ensure ability to communicate scientific content during meetings and presentations.

Responsible for overall financial management of the Medical/Scientific Director- Strategic Accounts role, as appropriate including submitting expense reports in a timely manner to ensure compliance.

Strongly supports One R&D community mindset and execution.

AUTHORITY AND REPORTING LINES:

This position typically reports into the U.S. Area Head- Global Aesthetics Medical Affairs.

LOCATION:

The Medical/Scientific Director- Strategic Accounts is field based- preferably centrally or West Coast based in the U.S.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in health sciences or clinical discipline required. Preferred: Doctorate level degree (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD). Candidates with an undergraduate degree and significant relevant experience may be considered.

Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs in contributing to the medical and scientific objectives.

A minimum of 5 years clinical, scientific/research, or pharma industry related experience or equivalent with at least 2 of those years as an MSL.

Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred).

Proven success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Proven ability to work collaboratively cross functionally.

Experience managing and resolving challenging personnel issues.

Ability to travel regularly (approximately 50%)

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
