Position Description:
The Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Anesthesiology, is searching for assistant, associate, and full professors to be part of its growing research, education and clinical missions in multispecialty anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, ambulatory anesthesia, non-operating room anesthesia, transplant anesthesia, trauma anesthesia, critical care anesthesia and neuroanesthesia. Minimum qualifications include ABA certification or eligibility and a Wisconsin Medical License.
The Department of Anesthesiology at MCW includes 120 clinical faculty members, 10 active research faculty members, 66 residents and 17 fellows in pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, critical care, regional acute pain and pain medicine. Affiliated clinical sites include Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW), Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Wheaton Franciscan St. Joseph's Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital, and several ambulatory surgery centers in SE Wisconsin.
Additionally, the Department's Pain Medicine program serves three sites: MCW Pain Management Center, CHW Pain, VAMC Pain. The Department also staffs the VAMC surgical ICU and the Cardiovascular ICU at Froedtert. The faculty provides more than 63,000 anesthetics annually in more than 100 anesthetizing locations on any given day, considering all affiliate hospitals, operating rooms, and out-of-the-OR locations.
Milwaukee is located in the southeast corner of Wisconsin, nestled along one of Lake Michigan's beautiful bays. It is a wonderful community that has both the advantages of an urban environment and immediate access to outdoor recreational activities. The four-county area (Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties) has a population of 1.6 million.
