SCOPE OF POSITION:The Christmas Driver ensures that kettles, kettle stands, bells and other bell-ringing equipment are supplied to each location and are available to make other pick-ups and deliveries related to Christmas activities as needed.
General Duties and Responsibilities:* Ensures vehicle is properly gassed at the start of each shift.* Ensures Salvation Army phone is kept charged and available during working hours.* Clean and repair kettles and kettle stands, bells and signs to ensure they are clean and in good condition before delivering to stores.* Check aprons and bells to ensure they are all in good condition before distribution to bell ringers.* Uses Salvation Army vehicle to drop off kettle stands and related equipment to stores before beginning of Kettle Season.* Uses Salvation Army vehicle to pick up all bell ringing related equipment from stores after kettle season.* Ensures that all bell ringers have a fresh kettle, kettle slip, apron, bell and other materials.* Regularly checks bell ringing locations to be sure bell ringers show up for their shifts and have all their equipment.* Picks up kettles at the end of bell ringing shifts (times may vary).* Ensures all equipment is removed from vehicles each night to be put back into use the next day.* Keeps Kettle Coordinator informed of unmanned locations and changes in bell ringing schedule as they occur.* Is available to pick up other Christmas-related items including, but not limited to, toys from collection locations.* Inventories and helps store all kettle-related items at end of season.* Other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:High school Diploma or equivalent
Skills:Must have current and valid Washington State Driver's licenseAbility to pass background check and complete Decision Driver Training (Online)Ability to read Microsoft Excel SpreadsheetsSelf-motivated Team Player Attention to detailAbility and willingness to keep information confidentialAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basisAbility to drive a Salvation Army vehicle with automatic transmissionAbility to grasp, push and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawersAbility to reach overheadAbility to lift up to 25 poundsQualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
