We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong knowledge and working experience in varying enterprise network topologies, computer information systems, designing, deploying, installing, and upgrading local and globally distributed systems and associated equipment.The Systems Engineer will work closely with software engineers, developers and customers to design, integrate and maintain unique systems and technical solutions. The work will be homed from our corporate office, with occasional travel to other offices within the Washington Metropolitan Area as needed to gather requirements, participate in technical exchange meetings, conduct system architecture reviews, demonstrations and other system life cycle activities.Frequent communication and coordination with stakeholders are required. Additionally, the Systems Engineer is expected to create and maintain detailed diagrams and technical documentation of systems within their area of operation.JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure within designated project spaces.Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.Promote the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability through best practices and proven industry standards.Mentor and train other engineers throughout the company and seek to continually improve processes companywide.Work closely with engineering professionals within the company to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently.Document standard operating procedures, system design diagrams, user guides and applicable system security artifacts.Help develop clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution.Be proactive about challenges or constraints within a project and seek to manage them accordingly.Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, personnel resources and time necessary.Collaborate with internal and external project team members to create practical demonstrations of proposed solutions for various audiences inside and outside of the company.Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.Effectively speak to and collaborate with a variety of people, such as clients, vendors, management and information technology (IT) staff during the creation and maintenance of a system.Author, conduct and demonstrate system test plans and procedures using a combination of manual and automated (i.e., bash, shell, powershell scripts and tools) processes as applicable.REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:Experience installing, maintaining, and documenting hardware solutions and computer information systems.Demonstrated experience of best practices related to system integration, constructing systems in adherence to industry standards and reference architectures.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or comparable technical disciplines.Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.Professional work experience in team building and working among diverse project teams.Strong documentation and communications skills.Demonstrated competency installing and administering Windows and Linux operating systems, software tools and applications.Ability to author automated tests using scripts (i.e., bash, powershell, shell).Familiarity with software engineering methodologies, basic network and communication protocols.Proven ability to work together with teams and personnel of varying backgrounds, skill levels, and from several departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.Security Clearance:
