Job Summary

The DBA will be the subject matter expert in the data workloads, assisting development teams in creating and optimizing existing customer assets.

Primary Duties

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is largely responsible for providing operational and development support services for our SQL Server database environments. Primary responsibilities include owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests, performance tuning, backups, patching, and remediation of security vulnerabilities. This role requires a service-oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues, as well as initiating and performing changes on production systems.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a production environment DBA.

Experience with SQL Server 2014 or later in a Windows environment.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server databases, including experience working with transactional replication, performance tuning, and optimization.

Experience with database backup and restore, disaster recovery, and security.

Advanced knowledge of the SQL Server Engine for performance tuning and optimization, INNER OUTER/JOINS, CROSS/OUTER APPLIES, UNIONS, etc.

Ability to optimize complex queries to achieve sub-millisecond performance gains through query benchmarking.

Expert knowledge of database design concepts, stored procedures, triggers, views, and SSIS/SSRS packages.

Experience with monitoring tools and troubleshooting database performance issues; ability to install and configure new server instances and upgrade existing ones.

Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).

Test backups to ensure we can meet the business' Recovery Time Objectives (RTO); manage DDL scripts for multiple environments DEV/UAT/PROD.

General ability to support and optimize advanced and complex queries.

Preferred Qualities

Experience with data warehousing, data marts, data lakes.

Experience with BI and Analytics.

Experience with Dashboards.

Knowledge of Dimensional Modeling.
