COUNTRY Financial is seeking an experienced
Senior Cloud Engineer
to join our skilled Cloud Engineering team and make a large impact as we continue with significant efforts to modernize infrastructure, and transform, from on-premises datacenters to the public cloud. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure automation. You will ensure scalability, reliability, governance, and security of public cloud-based platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Cloud Engineers, Developers, Security, and Enterprise Architecture to design and implement deployments and automation strategies, leveraging the latest tools and technologies.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and can be based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL; Alpharetta, GA; or Minneapolis, MN.
How does a Cloud Engineer make an impact?
Design, build, implement, and support COUNTRY’s IT solutions.
Ensure IT solutions meet requirements for security, availability, capacity, resiliency, and performance in a way that is efficient and supportable, reducing overall support costs.
Understand industry leading solutions and trends for assigned technologies and applying those as appropriate for COUNTRY.
Understand business needs and partnering with appropriate IT counterparts to recommend technology solutions.
Establish and maintain an IT multi-year strategy with a focus on continuous improvement. Create and maintain solutions architecture artifacts and other strategy and system documentation.
Do you have what we're looking for?
Knowledge of cloud technologies: This includes a deep understanding of specific services: virtual machines (IaaS), PaaS (focus on container solutions) within a cloud provider's offering and other related fields such as DevOps, systems administration, or software development. Experience working in dynamic environments in Azure and AWS. A background with Azure is highly desirable.
Ability to resolve findings and implement best practices with Azure Advisor/Amazon Trusted Advisor is highly desirable for this role.
Security/Governance skills: Knowledge and experience with cloud-based security best practices, such as identity and access management, encryption, policy, and compliance requirements, is highly desirable for this role.
Automation skills: A background in automation, such as infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and/or Bicep, scripting languages, and configuration management tools is highly preferred.
Familiarity with Containers and Cloud Platforms they run on (Azure Container Apps/AWS Elastic Container Service/AWS Fargate/Kubernetes).
Cloud-specific certifications: Cloud engineers with specific certifications related to a particular cloud provider, such as Azure Administrator/Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator and/or Solutions Architect, are highly valued.
Programming/scripting skills: Knowledge of programming languages and frameworks, such as Python, Java, or Ruby, and/or scripting with Powershell, Bash or cloud CLI’s are desirable.
Windows 2016/2019/2022 and RedHat Platform engineering experience.
OS Scripting experience (MS PowerShell, Python, Cloud CLI).
Ability to be a self-starter and identify ways to continually improve cloud platforms.
Leadership skills: Senior cloud engineers should have strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide other team members.
Strategic thinking: A senior cloud engineer should have the ability to think strategically about the organization's cloud infrastructure and how to optimize it for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Project management: Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is required for a senior cloud automation engineer.
Communication skills: A senior cloud engineer should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-solving skills: Senior cloud engineers should be skilled at troubleshooting and diagnosing complex problems in cloud infrastructure and automation workflows.
Continuous learning: A senior cloud engineer should be committed to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in cloud automation engineering.
Typically requires 7 years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
