Traveling Demolition Project Engineer
Independence Excavating is looking for Project Engineers to join our growing teams on demo project across the United States. Our Traveling Project Engineer's must be willing to travel 100% of the time working on projects in various states. These projects can last 1-2 years on average and offers great benefits and an opportunity to work with a great family-owned company with excellent opportunities for growth.

A typical day looks like:
Reading, understanding and interpreting drawings and specificationsSoliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliersReviewing estimated productions with Project Manager and/or Superintendent to finalize the bidPreparing detailed schedule and maintaining in (P6)Tracing and maintaining running totals, tonnages and payments for recycled materials on job sitesAssembling job cost codes for projects and regularly updatePreparing the details needed for the Project Manager to submit pay estimates to OwnersMonitoring production, resource utilization and overall job cost vs. estimated cost to maintain profit margin on projectsMonitoring and checking the progress of project close-out activities such as punch list coordination, furnishing as-built drawings, providing O & M manuals and compiling final estimate / retainer billingOther duties as assigned
Do you have what it takes?
High School Diploma or equivalent is required and associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred2-4 years of previous related experience is requiredMust have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assignedMust be able to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners and general contractorsDemonstrated ability to manage budget, schedule, people, and quality of work at multiple construction sitesMust be competent to perform complete and accurate project take-offs and estimatesWillingness to travel and stay on jobsite for duration of project (will have opportunity to go home monthly)
