Structural Project Engineer
in our Pensacola, FL office. The
Structural Project Engineer
will be responsible for calculations, system design, including gravity framing, lateral framing, and foundation sizing, reports, progress submittals, BIM instructions for the project, and specifications required to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period and monetary budget. The Structural Project Designer consistently exercises his/her own discretion and judgment in the performance of these duties. Additionally, they will act as Lead Designer on projects and are able to analyze and design simple structures using engineering judgment, computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.Some key duties and responsibilities include:Prepare project specifications and verify that design meets code requirementsCalculate costs and time schedules for proposed work; review all files to determine scope and personnel involvedMaintain good client relations, project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record filesCoordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliersDocument design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client promptly while monitoring project design progress as related to fee expendedReview all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final checkPrepare and issue addendum informationRecognize potential project problems quickly and seek advice from the Project ManagerReview design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Project ManagerConduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreementMentor designers and/or modelersOther duties as assigned.Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawingsKnowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structuresSkill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software, and BIMAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysEducation and experience requirements are:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineeringMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering preferredStructural Engineering license preferredA minimum of 4 years of qualifying experienceSo, what are you waiting for?
