Rocket Lab’s Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.SYSTEM TEST ENGINEER II
Based out of Rocket Lab's office in Littleton, CO, the
System Test Engineer II
is responsible for the development and maintenance of technical budgets, requirements definition, test planning and execution, and overall management of the systems engineering process. You will support the Chief Space Systems Engineer and Space Systems organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Design, document, review and execute tests on spacecraft avionicsPlan, write and execute test scripts that verify hardware/software interfaces and validate requirementsAuthor and review test plans, hardware drawings, test summary and reports Design, specify and procure test fixtures and other hardware as neededCollaborate with flight software developers and Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) engineers to troubleshoot hardware and software anomaliesCommunicate plans and results with leadership, team and customersTravel to customer and vendor facilities to aid hardware delivery, checkout and commissioningYOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline2+ years of work experience developing or testing electrical systems (avionics, automotive, spacecraft)Programming experience with Python or similar scripting languagesUnderstanding of RLC circuit design and test equipment (DMMs, Oscilloscopes etc.)THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
Master’s degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical engineeringExperience testing spacecraft avionics according to customer and internally derived requirementsUnderstanding of hardware design from concept to productionExperience testing or working with radio frequency communication systemsFamiliarity with communication protocols (Ethernet, UART, LVDS, CAN, etc.)Security ClearanceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
