Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated civil construction professionals to join our team as a
Field/Project Engineer in Farmington, NM.
Duties:Develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible.Assist Project Manager, Quality Control Manager & Superintendents with entry level engineering tasks, material take-offs, work plans, submittals, estimates, etc.Prepare baseline scheduling and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams.Assess impacts to critical path and near-critical activities, report to project team.Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing alternate methods for corrective action.Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis.Assure credibility of the information contained in the schedule.Review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate timely data is incorporated in the schedule.Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths.Evaluate activity sequences for constructability.Analyze change orders for schedule impacts.Resource load schedules as required by the project team.Perform job-site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.Project submittals.Draft RFIs, subcontracts, purchase orders and negotiate contract pricing to come in under budget.Schedule on Microsoft Project or Primavera.Budgeting and cost projections.Large amounts of word processing, letters/correspondence to owners and engineers.Attend progress meetings.Read and interpret plans and specifications.Communicate verbally and electronically in an educated and professional manner with owners and engineers.Work in office but also spend time in the field, understanding what is being built.Manage and schedule deliveries from suppliers.Schedule and coordinate subcontractors.Field, not limited to:Daily installation quantity record keeping.Daily start and stop station recording for record drawings.Equipment hour tracking.Meeting with subcontractors and suppliers on site.Attending any necessary field meetings and taking progress photos.Qualifications:Construction/related degree with 3 to 5 years construction scheduling experience, preferably in water facility projects.Excellent computer skills and analytical ability.Experience working with Primavera P6, Procure.Understanding of the industrial construction process.Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings.Knowledge of contract procedures and principles.Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects.Education:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.For more than 120 years, hard-working, honest, innovative people have been building what has become SOUTHLAND HOLDINGS.
