Job Description Summary

As a Principal Network Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our technology evolution. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our network infrastructure, focusing on cutting-edge solutions that enhance performance, security, and scalability. We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Principal Network Engineer with expertise in firewall, network, wireless, and cloud engineering, as well as architectural experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience and hold an advanced network certification. This role involves leading the design, deployment, and management of advanced network and security systems, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to product evaluations and RFP processes.

Job Description

Network Architecture and Design:

Lead the design and architecture of complex network solutions, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud-based networks.

Architect and implement advanced Fortinet security solutions, ensuring robust and scalable network security.

Develop secure, resilient, and scalable network designs that align with business objectives.

Deployment and Infrastructure Management:

Oversee the deployment, racking, and configuration of network and security equipment.

Ensure the seamless integration of network components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Manage and optimize cloud networking and security in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Product Evaluations and RFP Management:

Lead product evaluations, including testing and analysis of new network and security technologies.

Participate in the RFP process, providing technical expertise and recommendations to ensure optimal solution selection.

Mentorship and Team Leadership:

Mentor and guide junior network engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering team, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Documentation and Technical Reporting:

Create and maintain detailed network and security architecture diagrams using Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools.

Document network configurations, processes, and policies to ensure clarity and accessibility.

Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to stakeholders, outlining network performance, security posture, and recommendations.

Communication and Collaboration:

Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business units, to align network and security strategies with organizational goals.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on emerging technologies in networking, security, wireless, and cloud solutions, and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure.

Lead initiatives to enhance network security, performance, and reliability through proactive measures and best practices.

Required Skills and Education

Minimum of 7 years of experience in Network engineering, with a focus on WAN, LAN, firewall management, wireless technologies, and cloud networking.

Active Medium-level network certification (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, NSE4, ASE).

Proven experience in network architecture and design, including cloud-based solutions.

Strong experience in product evaluations and participation in RFP processes.

Excellent documentation skills, with proficiency in Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools.

Proficient with wired & wireless packet capture and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Ekahau) for troubleshooting complex network problems.

Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with multi-cloud networking and security architectures (AWS, Azure, OCI).

Familiarity with multiple network and security technologies (e.g., Cisco, Meraki, Juniper, Palo Alto, Aruba, HPE, Extreme).

High-level network certification (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE, NSE7, MASE).
