As a member of CoreSite’s information technology team, the Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the administration and enhancement of the database platforms that fall under the DevOps team. The position will participate in requirement specification discussions with various IT and Business teams and will contribute to the overall design and implementation of the evolving data platform. The Senior Database Administrator will collaborate with the rest of the DevOps team to ensure smooth and accurate delivery of changes to databases in a Microsoft environment.Duties:
Ensure availability of data using common High Availability/Disaster Recovery technologies (database backups, log shipping, availability groups)Monitor and troubleshoot database performanceInstall database software as needed for new/replacement system deploymentsEvaluate and apply patches to database systemsCollaborate with Data Engineers to design database system solutions for availability, performance, scalability, and securityDocument, calculate ROI and communicate proposed technology solutionsDevelop and modify CI/CD pipelines for database solutionsDevelop and modify monitoring and alerting frameworks to support technology solutionsParticipate in regular compliance activities to meet various audit certificationsAssist in supporting the applications and infrastructure that the DevOps Team administersPromote and demonstrate the behaviors consistent with CoreSite’s culture and valuesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment that consists of at least two onsite days in downtown Denver office per week, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays for in-person team collaborationStrong scripting ability (PowerShell)Utilize skills that span disciplines and comfortably play different roles in more than just one areaPivot easily within a constantly changing Agile environmentSelf-starter, self-motivated, driven individualAbility to communicate with various teams at both the technical and business levelsAbility to analyze requirements, retrieve source data, and present accurate results in a timely mannerAccomplished in using best practices for gathering and documenting complete and detailed requirementsEducation/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other applicable field preferred5+ years of experience in Database Administrator, Software Engineer or Systems Administrator role5+ years working experience with Microsoft SQL Server2+ year working experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and/or Log ShippingExperience with CI/CD tools is preferred (BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy)Experience with AWS preferredPhysical Demands:
