Cigna
Software Engineering Senior Advisor
Cigna, Nashville, Tennessee, United States,
As a Full Stack developer, you will listen to questions from the business and find an answer. You will navigate enterprise scale data systems looking for the pieces of that answer. Parts may be stored in different tables, databases, or platforms. Once found, you will assemble those pieces in a way that allows others to act on it.
The data sets you work with may be on the order of petabytes, and thus your solutions must be scalable and efficient. You will have access to many DevOps tools to assist your work, and your solutions must fit in with those tools and pipelines. You will also be part of a development community with the ability to influence those tools and pipelines, as well as be a part of the organization’s initial steps into AI and Machine Learning.
Candidates should be comfortable with complex SQL queries and have some exposure to using programming languages (such as Python) to connect to data stores and analyze/transform data. Additionally, the candidate should be able to see the big picture within the data and be able to tell a story from seemingly disjoint pieces. The ideal candidate will constantly be on the lookout for areas in the development process to improve as well as look for new and meaningful insights in the data.
Your team will act as your mentors and you will not be expected to know all of the technologies listed. Applicants with some SQL, Hadoop, and Python experience will have a head start.
You will be joining an agile team made up of senior business analysts, quality engineers, and other developers. You will work with them to deliver actionable insights to the business.
Core Technologies:
SQL, Teradata, Hadoop, Python, Linux, Git, various ML frameworks, AWS data services (EMR, Redshift, RDS, DynamoDB, Glue, Data Pipeline, etc.), CI/CD technologies (Jenkins, Travis CI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
Skills:
Database solution design, API integration, scripting/build automation, visualization/reporting
Responsibilities:
Take business questions and requirements and navigate complex data stores for the answer.
Build new and maintain existing scripts that create data sets which the business relies on to make decisions.
Work closely with the rest of your team to deliver full stack solutions that allow business users to visualize and act on insights you helped discover.
Look for gaps and possible improvements in the Big Data CI/CD process and help design/drive solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline strongly preferred.
Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are preferred. Strong knowledge of public cloud computing concepts (AWS preferred).
Typically, 10+ years of solid, diverse work experience in IT specifically in application development/software engineering or similar roles.
3+ years of experience leveraging public cloud for application development.
Prior working experience in the healthcare domain is preferred.
Software development experience with Python, PySpark, Apache Spark and Kafka. Strong knowledge of Data Integration (e.g. Streaming, Batch, Error and Replay) and data analysis techniques.
Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, and Terraform.
Experience with Teradata (Vantage) or any RDBMS system/ETL Tools.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
