INTRODUCTION: CONTEXT AND MISSION

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. Over the past several years, the Greater Cleveland community has united behind the collective goal of ensuring every child in Cleveland attends a high-quality school and every neighborhood has a multitude of great schools from which families can choose. The Cleveland Plan defines CMSD’s approach to the reinvention of public education and holds our community accountable for the success of Cleveland’s schoolchildren. The Cleveland Plan is supported by Ohio House Bill 525, which provides much-needed flexibility and autonomy for the district and its schools.

The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

The Project Manager, Equity & Culture will support the execution of strategic projects and special initiatives towards success in key functional areas across the Talent Division and within the Employee Experience and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion team, including, but not limited to, serving as the key implementer for CMSD, Equity, and Me (a racial equity learning series), facilitating the implementation of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and leading Talent Division projects towards completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the key implementer and manager of CMSD, Equity, and Me racial equity learning series

Facilitates CMSD, Equity, and Me Professional Development sessions and other DEI trainings

Maintains communications and active partner relationships with key community partners

Collects, analyzes, and prepares findings from program or system data, including recommendations, action steps, or procedure additions/changes

Coordinates program designs, procedure updates, and communication tools on behalf of the Talent Division

Facilitates program meetings, including trainings, session de-briefs, design team sessions, after-action reviews, partner convenings, etc.

Manages and communicates project schedules, program status, and deliverables across the Talent Division

Serves as the key communicator to schools/departments about their status in the program and all program information

Communicates with labor organizations and program co-chairs

Creates support structures and serves as key contact for Community Action Guides, implementing division or school action plans from CMSD, Equity, and Me programming

Serves as a key member of the E&I Survey Team

Supports all programs and projects of the division, with a special emphasis on supporting the Employee Experience team in the implementation of Employee Resources Groups and the implementation of a new first-year experience program

Supports the implementation of the New Managers Learning Series

Collaborates with District managers to identify supports and connections between CMSD administration and worksites

Supports restorative practices as a means to navigate workplace challenges

Engages in stretch assignments to further learning, develop/utilize new skills, and experience new/different aspects of District work

Travel: While this position is based out of our District offices at 1111 Superior Avenue, travel will be required on a weekly basis to our professional development center and school locations

Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in a field related to Human Resources

3 to 5 years of experience working in a Human Resources/Talent-related position preferred

Experience working in public education or a large organization preferred

Previous experience working with unions preferred

Must be able to multi-task and quickly analyze issues, shift priorities, and cope with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise documents and present trainings to large audiences.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Outstanding customer relations orientation

Must hold a valid driver's license

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Expected moving, walking, and standing consistent with an office environment and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds

The employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear.

Approximately 20% to 50% of the work week may require local travel for training/meetings
