Vehicle Project Engineer in Washington DC/Hagerstown, MD areas
in support of our North American Vehicles projects, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.As
Vehicle Project Engineer , the candidate will work alongside Designers, Customers, and Systems suppliers as well as Service and Manufacturing Engineers. The candidate must demonstrate passion for innovation and understanding of various engineering systems.The role requires being the technical representative to the Project Teams, Suppliers, Customers, and any External Parties.The Vehicle System Engineer shall be the interface point with Customers on the technical design solution and resolve the design open points.The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Technical coordination of design teams during the complete project lifecycle from bid to delivery and vehicle qualification phases.Preparation of project design documents for bid or projects.Definition and management of design reviews with design teams or customers.Preparation of project documentation such as engineering plans and design review reports.Management of project KPI and Open Items by means of structured templates.Engineering representation during cross-functional meetings with Project Managers, procurements, and manufacturing departments during the complete project lifecycle.Coordination of testing activities with related departments in order to manage the complete validation of the project.Required Skills/Knowledge2-3 years preferred past experience in Railway or other similar Industry sectors projects.Knowledge of the basic concepts of the RAMS disciplines is an advantage.Knowledge of the main regulations relating to on-board systems in the railway business.Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Knowledge of system engineering processes and the main regulations in the railway field is required, in order to manage, throughout the life cycle of the product and with an interdisciplinary approach, the design activities, development, and functional integration of the subsystems of railway vehicle platforms, with particular reference to the topics of architecture, functions, and performances, from the design phase to the final validation phase.Recommended knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.).Recommended knowledge of the IBM DOORS requirements management tool.Recommended knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, with the aptitude to contribute constructive and practical ideas.Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment.Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects is required.Availability for short-term national and international business trips.Desired Skills/KnowledgeAbility to manage and plan the assigned tasks independently and team-working.Ability to analyze business requirements, problem-solving attitude, and business process analysis.Ability to interact with different internal functions (internal customers) and external (suppliers, customers, partners).Planning and organization.Versatile in learning and strong desire to remain up-to-date with changes in technology and best industry practices.Strong business acumen & technical skills.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Attitude to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.Education• Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.The salary range for this position is $84,080 to $126,120 per year.
