Job Title:Research Informatics Analyst - Lead-CIA

Job Summary:Formulates/defines project and system scope and objectives based on applications and database specifications, and user defined needs. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems, considering application and database functionality, and user procedures. Analyzes and revises existing research informatics system documentation. Provides guidance to assigned personnel. May instruct and direct other research informatics personnel and project team members. Responsible for quality assurance review on projects.

Education & ExperienceEducation and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, mathematics, business, or a related field and six years related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required:Epic certification or accreditation in one of the following data models: Clinical Data Model, Access Data Model or Revenue Data Model. If not Epic certified or accredited, must obtain Epic certification or accreditation within 6 months of hire. An Epic assessment will be given to those candidates who pass the initial review step of the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications:Information systems experience in healthcare or related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of information systems, analysis, and programming. Knowledge of system features and integration capabilities. Knowledge of relational database systems and SQL. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to ensure policies, procedures, and processes are followed and implemented. Analytical, programming, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) data. Ability to create, design, or enhance computer applications. Ability to program, test, debug, document, or install systems. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation. Ability to supervise, evaluate, and/or provide functional guidance to assigned subordinate personnel or personnel assigned on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership in researching, designing, developing, coding, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting database ETL code and queries in support of research informatics data.

Works with informatics personnel to find best technological means to support data management and analysis, monitor data quality and validation of analytical results, and implement new and improved standards and methods for data analysis and visualization. Keeps abreast of current and new technologies and serves as a resource to other informatics personnel.

Provides leadership, guidance, and training to other research informatics personnel. Displays creative thinking and resolves problems.

Develops specifications and conducts research with the assistance of informatics personnel, team members, users, and vendors to design, create, develop, or enhance applications. Prepares the required documents in accordance with UMMC programming standards, policies, and procedures.

Participates in technical committees to identify, investigate, and characterize risks and communicates progress toward established milestones. Accomplishes goals and objectives within set deadlines.

Provides positive customer relations across the range of information system activities including support services, UMMC business units, and vendors. Promotes corporate integrity through compliance with UMMC and information technology policies and procedures.

Physical and Environmental Demands:Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
