Job SummaryThe Senior Critical Infrastructure Engineer will be based in the Portland/Beaverton area but can work remotely within the regional footprint. Frequent travel by car is required.
As a Senior Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will oversee projects across western Oregon. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of building systems throughout Ziply Fiber’s footprint, including but not limited to HVAC, AC/DC power plant, building physical security, and remote monitoring.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, build and maintain DC power and distribution systems with battery backup for the support of network equipment.
Layout cabinets, racks, and overhead cable tray/fiber trough as required with appropriate cable management for power, communications, and fiber optic cables.
Work with electricians on designing, planning, estimating, installation, and modification of AC & DC power distribution.
Coordinate with contractors and customers for major repairs and installations as needed.
Plan, implement and maintain telemetry monitoring of remote facilities.
Assist relevant internal teams with determining space and power needs.
Record installation and testing of batteries and UPS’s to ensure proper operation of backup power systems.
Assist relevant internal teams and collocation customers in the planning and installation of outdoor radio equipment.
Perform and document ongoing site inspections for all facilities.
Provide Project Management for work within the region.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be available to work regular business hours Pacific Standard Time and on-call, evenings and weekends as needed.
Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Electrical engineering degree or electrical license preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of related industry experience.
Prior experience maintaining and repairing building systems in the telecommunications/datacenter industry required.
Extensive knowledge of AC backup power systems is required.
Extensive knowledge and familiarity with industry standards for DC power systems and batteries required.
Extensive knowledge of the National Safety Electrical Code is required.
Intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems and associated controls.
Intermediate knowledge of networking and IP addressing.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills are required.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within an organization.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD preferred.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills.
Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel.
Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Ability to work within critical deadlines.
Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required.
