Senior Engineer

with a passion for building high performance, low-latency platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Position Description:Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. You will work in a highly collaborative environment interfacing with many other teams such as Salesforce CRM, Infrastructure, Architecture, Release Management, Application Security, and Business Product Owners to help develop and deliver critical solutions for GEICO while transforming and reimagining legacy workflows and processes. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.

Position Responsibilities:Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systemsBuild product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solutionEngage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycleLead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organizationDefine, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspectiveUtilize developer tooling and a variety of Azure tools and services across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) to perform advanced-level Java application design, implementation, and maintenance activities under minimal directionMentor other engineersConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsQualifications:Advanced programming experience with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented designStrong understanding of web service integration (REST/SOAP) and enterprise middleware integration tiers (Mulesoft/Informatica)Experience using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is preferredAbility to articulate channel dataflow and process flow including email, SMS, web chat, Mobile Push & SDK'sExcellent communication skills – needs to be able to lead projects from the front and interact with clients and sponsors on a regular basisExperience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systemsAdvanced understanding of DevOps Concepts and Cloud ArchitectureExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeStrong problem-solving abilityAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Working experience in CI/CD, Git commands, GitHub source, Azure preferredExperience with enterprise integrations utilizing MuleSoft or Event Based Frameworks is highly preferredExperience with databases such as MS SQL Server and OracleRequired Experience:4+ years of professional software development experience with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented design3+ years of experience building the architecture and design of new and current systems3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks2+ years of experience in Salesforce Apex development, building flows, and processesDesired Experience:Experience with Salesforce standard objects/records, custom object creation, validation rules, and relationshipsKnowledge of building and configuring flows, and process buildersKnowledge of Apex, SOQL, Visualforce, and Lightning Aura / LWC componentsExperience with Salesforce CDP, Tableau CRM is beneficialEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceBenefits:At GEICO, we make sure you have the support and resources to leverage and develop your skills, secure your financial future, and take care of your health and well-being. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
