Hybrid Systems Chief Engineer
will serve as the lead for technical and commercial development relating to electrified powertrains in transportation and other applications. Duties include developing and supporting commercial strategies to identify new business opportunities for Roush products and services; determining technical skill requirements and assisting in recruiting and training accordingly; identifying key capital requirements and assisting in developing business cases for investments as appropriate; leading efforts to optimize system design, balancing cost, weight, performance, environmental, and quality objectives; developing and fostering relationships within the supply and customer base; participating in peer design reviews relating to hybridized programs. They will be responsible for engaging and managing various internal and external activities, including engineering, simulation, physical testing, prototyping, manufacturing, etc. to ensure system function is maximized and requirements are achieved. This position is located in Allen Park, MI.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and support implementation of commercial strategies to identify new business opportunities in areas of hybrid/electrified powertrain systems.Assess Roush internal capabilities and capacity, both in terms of personnel and tools, and identify areas for potential improvement. Develop recommendations for addressing and participating in implementation, including recruiting and training staff as well as making proposals where appropriate for targeted investments in tools.Provide leadership in developing and implementing processes for optimizing hybrid system performance, including working across multiple departments and business units.Develop and implement a robust design review process relating to hybrid powertrain systems, focusing on ensuring system level targets relating to cost, quality, performance, weight, etc. are achieved. Provide guidance and support to program engineers in leading these reviews, documenting the results, and implementing action plans.Assist in developing and implementing robust requirements for hybrid powertrain systems using Roush JAMA requirements management system.Responsibility for leading hybrid system level DFMEA, and supporting related PFMEAs, to be used throughout the company.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in systems, electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering.Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in propulsion system engineering, with a minimum of 4 years in hybrid electric vehicle propulsion systems (type P0-P2) and a minimum of 7 years of electric vehicle propulsion systems (any type). Demonstrated systems engineering experience overseeing simple or complex technical projects.Proven experience with financial management; this can be in the areas of BOM cost management, project cost management, department cost management, P&L, etc.Proven experience in directly communicating with senior executives relating to product and/or business planning.U.S. Citizen for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses.Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation.Extensive knowledge of systems engineering practices.Preferred Skills:Master’s or PhD in applied engineering, systems engineering, or other system-level discipline.Published research (SAE papers or other recognized technical journals), patents, or other recognized contributions to the area of hybridized powertrains.Proven experience in complex multi-variable analysis, ideally relating to hybrid powertrain applications.Understanding of business processes: creation, refinement, and gap analyses.Proven history of developing and mentoring skills development within the organization.Our full-time benefits include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, earned sick time, STD, LTD, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, paid holidays, and
