Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network – Global Network Engineer (24-382) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, see the battle develop, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems.

This position includes both the engineering of new capabilities and the maintenance of existing environments. The network engineer will produce designs, including system, logic, and connectivity drawings, as well as conduct testing of network designs. The ideal candidate will maintain technical expertise in diverse network and computer hardware and software areas.

Essential Functions:

Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.

Work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently at times on large field projects.

Proven troubleshooting skills.

Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

5 years' experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 3 years' experience with a master’s degree; or 9 years' experience in lieu of a degree.

DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II

with

Continuing Education (CE)

or higher must start.

Experience and working knowledge of Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switches, Juniper routers and switches, Fortinet firewalls, and Palo Alto firewalls.

Experience with WANs, encryption devices, VxLAN, multicast, BGP, OSPF, and Wireshark.

Familiarity with SIPRNet, MDACNet, or other DOD networks.

CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA, and Cisco CCNA/CCNP certifications.

Understanding the project lifecycle and traditional systems engineering skills.

Experience in reviewing work products produced by a team of engineers for quality and adherence to established procedures.

Design, implementation, and troubleshooting of networking equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.

Working knowledge of spanning tree, trunking, routing protocols, and IP subnetting.

Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of network engineering configuration changes.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer interface skills, quick learner, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current and active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.

Experience planning and supporting network infrastructure deployment.

Prior C2BMC network experience is also a plus.

Travel may be required to support both local and remote sites.

Salary Range:

$88,600 - $133,000
