Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently recruiting for a
Principal/Sr Principal Facilities Energetics Engineer
to join our team at the
Promontory, Utah
location.
Job Description:
Provide engineering design as needed to support the Facilities Mechanical Engineering Department.
Manage projects and coordinate all procurements and installation to meet the program cost and schedule requirements for capital upgrades.
Design mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for chemical plant systems including boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, hydraulics, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, and air and gas systems.
Prepare design calculations and specifications for major plant related equipment including, but not limited to heat exchangers, industrial chillers, cooling towers, boilers, condensers, pumps, piping, etc.
Prepare mechanical engineering designs, including layout, design sketches, and conceptual design.
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
Coordinate with other engineers and craftsmen assigned to the project or a task, and reviews work progress and results.
Providing detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
Preparing specifications for the procurement of pumps, heat exchangers, valves, compressors, tanks, cranes, and other miscellaneous plant equipment.
Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability and functionality.
Troubleshoot industrial mechanical equipment. Resolve equipment problems in the field through technical assistance with Maintenance Craftsmen.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 5 years of experience.
Position may be filled at a higher level requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 8 years of experience.
Industrial mechanical design and process equipment experience.
Chemical processing experience.
AutoCAD drafting ability.
Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside and work in congested areas.
Technical Skills:
Strong candidates for this position will possess:
Desire, i.e. passion, to build and manufacture support hardware.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.
Leadership ability.
Technical attention to detail.
Salary Range:
$92,600 - $139,000Salary Range 2:
$114,900 - $172,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
