Based out of our Service Center in Memphis, TN, a Project Engineer supports the technical needs of our branch network related to project planning and field execution operations. Through extensive field experience, a comprehensive working knowledge of our fleet of cool tools, and solid relationships with our branch teammates, the Project Engineer produces project drawings and supporting calculations that ensure all aspects of risk have been assessed and appropriate mitigating measures have been established. Primary responsibilities include:Create and develop innovative engineered solutions for heavy lift and transport projects across North America. Focal points for Project Services Engineering during the life-cycle of a project include, but are not limited to, the following:Validation of Sales Support Engineering concepts.

Verify methods and equipment proposed during bid phase will work and are the correct equipment for the project.Perform site walk downs/route surveys.

Visit job sites with branch personnel to measure and verify equipment layout, process, clearances, etc. that are critical to the project. Also perform route surveys along proposed heavy haul routes to identify critical turns and interchanges, interferences, road conditions, etc.Optimization of methods and equipment.

The selected method should be efficient, cost-effective, and minimize risk to the project and personnel.Engineered drawings.

Provide detailed crane layouts, rigging drawings, transport drawings, equipment layouts, and other engineered drawings in AutoCAD that clearly and efficiently communicate the layout, setup, assembly, movements, overall process, and other needs of the project.Equipment and design calculations.

Perform design calculations under the direction of a senior engineer to verify equipment, hardware, rigging, and customer site/equipment do not exceed their rated capacities.Critical Thinking and Communication Skills.

Ability to decipher information in a fast-paced environment and help develop solutions to issues as they arise.Obtain working knowledge of Barnhart heavy lift and specialty rigging equipment in order to provide solutions to customer needs.Function as field technical liaison for critical lifts – includes risk management functions and safety evaluations of projects.Develop detailed customer submittal packages containing well organized calculations, project drawings, site layouts, and equipment specifications.Meet with branch managers, project managers, sales personnel, field crews, and/or customers to discuss project details and provide updates.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline from ABET accredited institution (3.0 GPA Minimum).Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access, etc).Exposure to Steel Design Codes (ASME, AISC, etc.).Exposure to the following software packages:AutoDesk Suite – AutoCad, InventorStructural Analysis Software - RISA 3DMathCADAdobe AcrobatVideo conferencing platform: ex: Cisco Webex, Zoom, Microsoft TeamsMechanical aptitude preferred.Strong Communication Skills – both oral and written. Public speaking experience is preferred.Experience in team leadership capacity.Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly determine corrective actions.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.EIT Certification Preferred.Base Salary Range:
