ALEX is now hiring a skilled Senior Data Analyst - Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for an immediate, part-time opening to work as part of our Velocity Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) team.The Senior Data Analyst will support data collection, subsequent analyses, and validation of various data sets, and ingesting and processing organizational structures using Velocity. The Analyst will provide critical quality assurance through data pipeline and delivery processes ensuring that data provided is not only usable, but fightable in simulations requested by the customer. Additionally, this role serves as a key point-of-contact with external teammates and customers.Requirements
Performing and coordinating data validation and quality assurance activities (QA) related to data migration and prior-to-tool deployment to ensure ingested data is organized and accurately represents the simulated organizations and systems.Assisting in the development of calculations for complex variables needed to support the simulated wargame such as relative combat power.Providing expert M&S-related support to an integrated technology team leveraging subject matter expertise of M&S processes and information to enhance systems functionality and usability.Preparing required presentations and actively participating in briefings with military and civil service personnel from various backgrounds and levels of seniority.Developing and implementing study plans that include background, purpose of study, scope/limitations, critical assumptions and constraints, measures of effectiveness, study parameters and variables, methodology description, data requirements, and schedule.Assisting with data modeling, metrics, data processes, and analytic improvement techniques that could support current and future wargaming concepts and operations for research analysts assigned at the USMC Wargaming Center.Facilitating and supporting customer-initiated analytical efforts to include weapon effects, jamming effectiveness measures, anticipated medical and maintenance readiness rates, and other topics of interest.Using available data, subject matter expert knowledge, and best judgment, to create and maintain input data for computer simulations including, but not limited to, Combat Forces Assessment Model (CFAM), Weapons Effects Analysis and Probability Software (WEAPS), Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual (JMEM), and Joint Weaponeering System (JWS).Interfacing with a highly technical team of AI/ML software engineers, data scientists, and web developers, plus external Modeling and Simulation technical experts to assist with their data collection, model development, and integration that supports the USMC Wargaming Center.Required Skills and Qualifications:
20 years of experience working with DoD Wargaming systems.In depth experience with the Microsoft Office suite.Experience soliciting, gathering, and analyzing user inputs and data requirements.Experience collaborating with team members from other warfighting disciplines, domains, and technologies.Working knowledge of current and future USMC and Naval Expeditionary Warfighting Concepts of Operations.Knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques of scientific analysis, statistics, and mathematical methodologies.Preferred Qualifications, Training and Education:
Working knowledge of Python and CI/CD pipelines.Working knowledge of SQL, NoSQL and S3 data repositories.Experience with Business Intelligence systems and Machine Learning.Experience collecting and establishing the pedigree of simulation input data, conducting risk analysis, model manipulation and modification.Knowledge and experience of military operations at the Tactical, Operational and Strategic level of war.Knowledge of military equipment and their operational employment across all domains (Air, Land, Surface, Subsurface, and Space).Experience participating in research studies and analysis.Graduate degree or equivalent operational experience in logistics/supply chain management or management/leadership roles.Education, Certifications, and Clearance:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration with minor concentration in system engineering, data systems, or data management.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
