community development feasibility report .Position OverviewThe Ignite Fellowship is a 12-month leadership development program hosted by the Embers Project. It is designed for local Stockton leaders interested in expanding their role in the community development and wealth-building potential of
Stockton’s most disinvested communities . With the support of the Embers Project team, fellows will provide hands-on group process and facilitation support to the Stockton Community Team (SCT) subgroups. Subgroups focus on the following 8 community-identified priorities: workforce access and small business; affordable housing and homeownership; land use and environmental justice; commercial revitalization and arts/culture.Fellows will participate in skill development sessions related to individual leadership development, group coordination and collaboration, and community development principles. Concurrently, they will provide direct coordination and facilitation support to the SCT subgroups. In addition, fellows will receive bi-weekly stipend allocations, personal and professional training and development, and networking opportunities with members in the community, public, private, and nonprofit sectors. By participating, fellows will be better equipped to facilitate community engagement and project planning processes that result in community wealth and human capital investment in Stockton.Participant qualificationsCandidates must be at least 18 years old.Currently works or advocates for community services/development in Stockton (volunteer experience is also fine).Currently lives in San Joaquin County or has lived in San Joaquin County in the last three to five years.Demonstrates an interest in learning and adapting new approaches and techniques in community development, investment, and engagement.Committed to developing equitable and inter-generational communities in Stockton.Demonstrates strong interpersonal and group communication skills.Demonstrates professional writing skills.Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, including race, ethnicity, ability, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and socioeconomic status.Ability to work collaboratively and in cooperation with the Embers Project team, other fellows, and community members.Preferred qualificationsCandidates who are current residents or former residents who lived in Stockton in the past five years.Candidates who completed an AmeriCorps term of service and are Stockton Service Corps alumni.Candidates who are current or past students of Delta College, Stanislaus State, or University of the Pacific (part or full-time).Participant duties and responsibilitiesAbility to work part-time (between 20-25 hours per week) for skills development training and SCT subgroup preparation and facilitation.Participate in all fellowship sessions to learn more about yourself, your present and future roles as civic leaders in the Stockton community, and the history and progression of the development of Stockton’s communities.Prepare for and facilitate subgroup sessions during the Embers Project meeting series.Coordinate with the SCT subgroups to advance project planning activities (i.e., creating a shared result within their priority area, identifying potential community partners, and more).Meet with public, private, philanthropic, and community members of the community to advance the work of the subgroups.In summary...Program StipendAs a part-time engagement, fellows will receive a bi-weekly stipend over the course of the fellowship period.Work EnvironmentSince August 2020, most of this inclusive economic planning work has happened virtually. The fellowship opportunity will be virtual during the 2022-2023 fellowship term.Current StatusAs of February 2022, an initial cohort of fellows have been selected.
