Purpose Statement:This Robotics Application Engineer is responsible to design, develop, customize, commission, maintain and improve various robotic automation systems to help ensure consistency and right first time in site operations execution, while increasing labor productivity and maintaining safety performance through elimination of high labor or ergonomically challenged work. The robotic systems consist and not limited to site Operations robotic systems (with its integrated auxiliary manufacturing process equipment) and autonomous mobile robot (AMR), including integration with other enterprise systems and other equipment systems.Supporting the site Factory of the Future vision and deliverables, this role ensures efficient and reliable systems, maximizes productivity and cost efficiency while adhering to site safety and quality standards.Major Responsibilities:Design & commission phaseEngage the internal stakeholders and analyze user needs to develop concept, design, customize, debug and commission semi / fully automated robotic systems to fulfill requirement of end user use cases, to improve labor productivity, process consistency, right first time execution, while improving safety and quality performance.Create and develop robotic systems tailored to specific tasks and requirements in line. This includes selecting appropriate hardware and software components.Sourcing and liaison with external vendors and system integrators to develop the integrated robot system to meet business requirements.Generate and outline project schedule to keep all stakeholders up to date promptly.Work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to develop, monitor and execute work plan, deliverables, required resources, monitor project activities, budget, and timing for new initiative.Work as Robotic system SME to lead the internal stakeholders to execute the installation, commissioning and validation/ qualifications of new/modified robotic systems.Software design, Debugging/ Coding of automation machine software application (which include both machine control, robot control and/or vision inspection system, for robotic system with its integrated eco-system, including its 3rd parties auxiliary equipment systems.Troubleshoot and overcome technical challenges during commissioning phase.Create/ revise SOPs, training curriculum and conduct training to end users and supporting function to enable the startup, commissioning, operations of new robotic system.Work with EHS and Quality Partners to develop/ revise safety and quality risk assessment for the use of integrated robotic systems on site.Operation & maintenance phaseEnsure that all robotic systems work seamlessly together. This involves integrating various components and subsystems to create a cohesive and efficient operation.Oversee the day-to-day operations of robotic systems to ensure robotic system uptime as per business need. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that robotic operations align with overall business objectives.Develop and implement maintenance program required for respective integrated robotic systems and work closely with colleagues from other engineering disciplines to meet site maintenance KPI.Support troubleshooting, investigation and implement improvement solutions of production process equipment, systems related to quality and safety issues. Continuously monitor the performance of robotic systems. Identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure that all robotic operations comply with industry standards and regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.Provide training and support to other team members and staff on the use and maintenance of robotic systems. Develop training materials and conduct workshops as needed.Maintain detailed documentation of all robotic systems, including design specifications, maintenance records, and performance reports. Prepare regular reports for management on the status and performance of robotic operations.Engagement with other network Robotic system SMEs, as required.Continuous ImprovementsTo constantly engage internal stakeholders and external vendor to explore the possibility of automating the replicative tasks and play as SME to advise the opportunities of robotic and automation.Regularly update and optimize the software that controls robotic systems. Troubleshoot and resolve any software-related issues to ensure smooth operation.Manage the budget for robotic operations. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses without compromising quality or performance.Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotics technology. Conduct research and development to introduce new technologies and methodologies that can improve existing systems.Qualifications
Basic skills and experience:Bachelor/ master’s degree in robotics engineering, mechanical / mechatronics engineering, application engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.At least 3 years of robotic engineering experience in food/ additives/ fragrances/ chemicals/ pharmaceutical/ biologics manufacturing environment or equivalent. Experience in mechanical design of customized automated system for production plant / relevant certifications in robotics or related fields advantageous.Familiarity with at least one type of OEM robot and AMR, like Universal Robots, ABB, Kuka, YASKAWA, Omron, Hikrobot, MiR, etc.Proficiency in languages such as Python, C++, and Java is often essential.Experience with robotic operating systems (ROS), simulation tools, PLC’s, HMI, Pneumatics, Hydraulic systems, CAD software etc.Strong understanding of mechanical equipment systems, electronics, and control systems.Practical, hands-on experience in designing, developing, and testing robotic systems.Skills in diagnosing and resolving issues with robotic systems.Preferred skills and experience:Ability to manage projects, including timelines and budgets.Excellent oral and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and documenting processes.Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in robotics technology.Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies and methodologies.Hands-on experience in routine operations, maintenance, engineering design, installation, start up and commissioning of system.Knowledge of cGMP is advantageous.Additional Information
