Virtualization Engineer

As a Virtualization Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Cloud Operations team at Lightedge Solutions. This position will report to the Cloud Operations Manager and will assist with the lifecycle, maintenance, and operations of the cloud systems and cloud component architecture. The Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for participating in projects and daily tasks that will create and develop new Virtualization infrastructure architecture, critical organizational initiatives, and the implementation of core infrastructure systems. This candidate will work in a team environment with other Engineers and Architects and key Operations personnel. This role requires an individual who can successfully work across multiple levels – with customers, teammates, vendors, and Executive Management. The Virtualization Engineer must have a comprehensive understanding of IT (Information Technology) infrastructure and the ability to execute technical solutions that meet the Organization's needs. Additionally, the Virtualization Engineer will act as an escalation point within the Engineering team and provide Subject Matter Expertise on one or many core Virtualization technologies supporting product and Architectural designs.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain lifecycle processes to mitigate risk and ensure platforms remain current.Experience working with technologies such as vCenter, VMware Cloud Director, NSX-T, VMware Operations.Experience and knowledge with designing, installing, and implementing VMware ESX server, VMware virtual center, setting up vMotion, DRS, Storage-DRS, and related VMware products (e.g., Usage Meter).Understanding of VMware Networking concepts like creation of Vswitches, several types of port groups, NIC Teaming and VLAN Problem management on VMware ESX 6.X, 7.X, 8.x.Must demonstrate strong, customer-focused communications skills, and the ability to conduct yourself professionally in all situations.Provide client support and technical issue resolution via telephone, email, and other electronic communication methods.Escalate service requests and incidents as required.Apply software updates and deploy new systems.Work with team to identify and automate VMware operational tasks.Disk and Network management.Troubleshooting performance or configuration issues.Maintain and support capacity management processes, metrics, and reporting to ensure adequate resource availability for continued expansion of the Cloud Services platforms.Deliver Lightedge services to clients in accordance with Service Level Agreements.Assist in the implementation and maintenance of our compute, backup, and storage solutions.Additional Responsibilities
Develops documentation of environments to accurately reflect the as-built information of the solution design and includes details of our Virtualization environments.Solid experience in designing, operating, and troubleshooting large scale VMware deployments.Participate in after-hours (24×7) escalation on-call rotation.Document and communicate service disruptions to the client and Lightedge management.Serve as a resource and escalation point for Support Team.Facilitate and carry out internal projects in coordination with the Engineering Design Team.Other duties as assigned.Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related industry experience.3-5 years of experience in IT Industry.Certifications in VMware a plus.Advanced knowledge and experience supporting and administering VMware environments.Strong scripting/automation a plus.Experience with SAN / Storage Platforms.Knowledge of RedHat/Linux or Windows Server.Experience with Dell and/or Cisco hardware.Experience supporting and administering Veeam, Zerto, VCDA, Avamar, or a comparable backup solution a plus.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Able to maintain professional demeanor under stress.Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to changes in technology.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
