Position Description
Job Summary
*Candidate must reside in a South/Southeastern State - travel requirement 50% or more*The Solar Field Applications Specialist is responsible for providing technical and sales support for CertainTeed’s solar products. The individual will be an expert on solar products as well as the design and installation of CertainTeed’s solar systems. This person understands solar codes/compliance in relation to solar system design and installation, provides on-site technical support to CertainTeed’s network of installers, and helps with solar warranty troubleshooting. The individual will also assist and execute training programs for CertainTeed solar products and contractor credentialing. He/she will actively work with other team leaders to cultivate a culture of safety, mutual respect, creativity, organized workplace, and environmental responsibility.Required Qualifications
Solar Applications support : Provide technical expertise on CertainTeed’s solar products, including the design specifications and installation of all solar products and systems including standard rack/panel and CertainTeed’s solar roofing solutions.Training Programs : Assist in the development and delivery of solar training and contractor onboarding for product applications whether in virtual, off-site meetings or at contractor projects.Create and refine design and proposals of systems using CT Solar productsField support : Provide customer support for projects on-site with training, AHJ trainings, and warranty issues.Warranty/Troubleshooting support : Maintain an understanding of solar product and system functionality and failure modes in order to troubleshoot system issues and advise on warranty claims.New Product Development support : Provide guidance and support to R&D and business on new products regarding installation risks, labor assessments, code compliance, etc.Sales : Working to support current and new installers, distributors, builders, etc. to provide technical support for projects, and assist in business development.Must be able to promote the features and benefits of the product lines appropriate to the audience that is being addressed or trained.Provide technical support for the existing sales team as well as distribution and contractor customers with project designs specifications, code compliance support for local permitting agencies, and project management guidance.Periodically attend and help promote CertainTeed’s solar products and business at trade shows.Additional Description
High School Diploma/GED required.Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in the required field.5+ years solar industry-related experience required.2+ years’ experience in PV installation and PV troubleshooting (modules, racking, and electronics) required.2+ years’ experience in PV design and proposal software (E.g. Aurora, Solo) required.Ability to travel 50%+ to conferences, off-site trainings, and contractor projects as needed.Valid US driver's license required.NABCEP PV Associate and/or OSHA 10 Certifications preferred.Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base.Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.Capability to understand highly technical solar products, installation, and design & proposal software.Organization and ability to keep a wide variety of work well documented.Must be efficient and capable of multitasking.Communication and presentation skills are imperative.Relationships and networks are critical to this position. As such, the position requires:Effective and frequent collaboration with sales, customer service and internal management.Development of team members with effective two-way communication, timely constructive feedback and fostering creativity.Promoting a safe and organized work environment for solar team members with a focus on behavior-based safety and 5S practices.Promoting a workplace atmosphere consistent with Saint-Gobain’s Principles and Attitudes.Company Summary
