Electrical & Instrumentation Technician I-SR

This position is a career development position and the selected candidate will be hired at the level in which they meet all minimum qualifications based on the established career development program.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Performs difficult to intermediate technical and skilled work installing, calibrating, monitoring, and troubleshooting industrial instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and electrical systems for Hopewell Water Renewal and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under limited supervision.Calibrates various industrial instrumentation systems including flow, level, pressure, and temperature, etc.Troubleshoot problems and repair instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment including, but not limited to, motors, motor control circuits, main switchgear, lighting, generators, etc.Installs new instrument, control, and electrical equipment including running conduit, pulling wire, and making terminations.Performs integration, monitoring, installation, and troubleshooting using PLC's and SCADA systems.Performs preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment, instruments, controls, and PLC's.Maintains full operation of pump stations; inspects sewer pumping stations and related equipment for proper operations; troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed.Maintains records and reports on all equipment and calibrations including updates of schematics and Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) drawings.May be required to work outside normal work hours in on-call and emergency situations.Minimum Education and Experience:
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in electronics, electrical instrumentation, computerized controls, or related field and moderate experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical/electronic systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Licenses and/or Certifications:
Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.Instrumentation certification upon hire.Obtain 26 - 34 hours of electrical and/or instrumentation specific (ex. schematics & diagrams, calibration practices, etc.), City, and Safety training.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
General knowledge of the principles, practices, and equipment associated with the installation, calibration, and maintenance of industrial instrumentation.General knowledge of the standard practices and terminology of the electrical trade.General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the work.Skill in installing, calibrating, operating, troubleshooting and repairing wastewater instrumentation and electrical equipment.Analytical, quantitative, testing and systems designing skills.Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, and schematics.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.Ability to diagnose improper operation of equipment or devices and to take proper corrective or remedial action.Ability to complete records and reports.Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed indoors but is exposed to temperature changes (warehouses, covered loading docks, garages, etc) or extreme noise, odors, heights, dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, and high voltages.Essential Physical Activities:
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.Typical weight handled: minimum 25lbs; maximum: 50lbs
