Network and Visibility Engineer- Solarwinds
to support our Federal Customer in
Martinsburg, WV.
Elevate specializes in Network Engineering and Design and ongoing support of key infrastructure for a large government agency. This excellent opportunity requires that the ideal candidate be customer focused, and willing to join a winning team.The NSOC defends, manages, and monitors the network operating status and cyber security posture by providing the day-to-day management, operation and configuration of the enterprise network infrastructure, Internet Gateways, the delivery of enterprise security systems and services, the monitoring and reporting of security incidents, the conduct of threat and vulnerability analysis, the validation of adequate security controls within the enterprise and the full range of functions across the spectrum of activities relating to incident management, incident response and enterprise network management.Our currently deployed applications include SolarWinds, RightITnow, Splunk and NetScout. These applications are installed on Red Hat Linux as well as Windows systems. We frequently engineer custom solutions extending these applications far beyond the “out-of-the-box” functionality. These custom solutions require more than simple installation and configuration of these applications.This current opportunity focuses primarily on engineering, maintaining and monitoring multiple SolarWinds instances on many Windows systems.Responsibilities
Work as a team member on the SolarWinds and Splunk team in the Network Operation Center (NOC) environment.Participate in Change Control technical assessment and review.Oversee approved routine maintenance implementation on applicable systems.Provide oversight of SolarWinds deployment, configuration and troubleshooting across a variety of platforms.Demonstrate experience in SolarWinds modules including, NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, NTA, IPAM, DPA, UDT, NTM, creating alerts, writing reports and adding bulk items.Assist and maintain SolarWinds systems internal documentation, including SOPs and design documents.Work closely with the Tier 3 Engineering and Tier 4 network architecture teams for proper escalation on issues, tasks, and projects.Assign responsibilities and monitor tasks and project status to report back to team lead.Design, support and maintain multiple SolarWinds environments in a highly available, redundant, geographically dispersed environment.Configuration and support of syslog-ng and rsyslog.Troubleshoot technical issues to determine root cause and resolve or implement workaround as necessary.Author, modify and troubleshoot various automation scripts.Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS and Windows Server experience.Basic VMWare knowledge.Experience with SQL administration and writing SQL or SWQL queries.Experience with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Perl, Python).Understanding of the function, operations, and management of network infrastructure components (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc.).Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting and the ability to interpret complex network designs.SolarWinds Certified Professional a plus.Extended support of LiveAction, RightITNOW, Netscout, Riverbed, Infoblock.Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications:Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 5 years of experience. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.Background Investigation:
Must be able to pass and maintain a Tier 2S (MBI) Government background investigation.Desired Qualifications:Education / Experience:
10+ years’ IT experience in a technical position, 5+ years' experience with Splunk.Certifications:
Certified Splunk Administrator/Architect preferred, CompTIA Network+ or equivalent preferred.
