We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented summer intern to assist in updating and enhancing Xenon Health’s Data Privacy Compliance Manual. This is an exciting opportunity to work on crucial cybersecurity initiatives and gain exposure to data privacy regulations, HIPAA compliance, and industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks. The intern will play a key role in strengthening the company’s defenses against security threats by contributing to essential plans for incident response, disaster recovery, and business operation continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

Manual Review and Update:

Assist in reviewing the existing Data Privacy Compliance Manual, updating it based on the latest cybersecurity trends, HIPAA regulations, and industry best practices.

Incident Response Management:

Help develop comprehensive incident response strategies to mitigate security threats and ensure swift recovery.

Business Operation Recovery Plan:

Contribute to the creation and refinement of plans to maintain business operations during disruptions.

Disaster Recovery Planning:

Assist in developing disaster recovery protocols to ensure the organization can recover data and systems after an incident.

Research and Compliance Support:

Conduct research on current cybersecurity trends, frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS), and HIPAA regulations to ensure that the company remains compliant and up-to-date.

Collaboration and Documentation:

Work closely with the IT and Compliance teams to document procedures, update guidelines, and enhance the overall cybersecurity resilience of the company.

Desired Skills:

Major in cybersecurity, information science, computer science, or related fields.

Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).

Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance (preferred but not mandatory).

Strong research and technical writing skills.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with security tools like Microsoft Defender, VPN, BitLocker, SIEM, Azure, AWS, or Authenticator is a plus.

A detail-oriented mindset with a strong interest in cybersecurity operations and compliance.

This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to work on critical cybersecurity initiatives, helping to ensure compliance and strengthen data privacy protections within a healthcare organization.
