We’re looking for a talented, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Web Developer. This person will be part of the collective team working on building meaningful experiences that help our online guests grow in their spiritual journey. As part of the team, you’ll regularly contribute code to various projects, translate designs into deliverable products, and collaborate with others to build and deploy working solutions. You’ll be working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP and other web frameworks and technologies.
To be successful you need to be self-motivated and driven to meet and exceed expectations. You also need to possess strong collaboration skills, including the ability to be mentored. You enjoy working without constraints and developing innovative solutions to complex problems. If you want to be a part of this innovative team, this position is for you.
You are part of one team taking ownership and responsibility for the care and keeping of this house. You stay willing and eager to serve in big and small ways, from welcoming guests to picking up trash.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and deploy new web projects per campaign, ministry or event.Provide ongoing development and maintenance of our main website.Develop and test new user-facing features.Build reusable code and libraries for future use.Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications:Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.Experience with PHP and WordPress.Experience with CSS3 and pre-processors such as LESS or Sass and usage in large scale applications.Should understand how to perform basic shell commands and work with CLI tools.Basic knowledge of image authoring tools is a plus.An understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.Experience with source control tools, such as Git and an understanding of how to work with a team using practices like gitflow.Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring our web properties adhere to them.Flexible schedule; some evenings, weekends and on-call scheduling.Reliable transportation required.
