How you’ll make an impact:

As the Senior Principal Engineer, Broadcast Engineering, you will join our dynamic team dedicated to Media Content Engineering. You will be a Senior Technical Leader responsible for shaping the technology landscape in the broadcast environment. This role focuses on designing and architecting cutting-edge broadcast systems, providing technical leadership, and driving innovation to meet the unique challenges of broadcasting. The ideal candidate will have experience in taking requirements from Product and Solutions Architecture Teams and advise the Broadcast Engineering Team on high level architectural and detailed design decisions. This position will work with Network Engineering, Applications and Infrastructure teams to design projects that will advance Sirius XM into the next generation of IT centric broadcast systems, implementing key modernized technology architectures and concepts that will supply the highest level of quality and reliability to our subscribers.

What you’ll do:

Work with cross functional teams, understand requirements and develop solutions via third party vendors or in house.

Design and implement complex broadcast systems and applications, including audio, video and metadata multicast routing, signal processing, and control systems within deadlines.

Interface with Vendors and System Integrators – Communicating project expectations clearly and concisely to allow outside entities to deliver their results in a timely fashion.

Interface with IT and Broadcast IT teams to design and implement: Audio over IP (AoIP) workflows, Software Defined Network (SDN) and Virtualized environments.

Collaborate with Infrastructure teams for Compute and Storage capacity planning, environmental stability (OS and Virtual Layer) for the Applications.

Understand Application systems and workflows and develop and implement APIs to integrate to support existing and new requirements.

Create technical documentation for existing and new application systems which help transition to other stakeholders.

Collaborate with other broadcast team members, including audio and video engineers, to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications.

Coordinate with vendors and support the team on problem resolution, design issues, installs and upgrades.

Provide technical support to internal and external users, including troubleshooting and training.

Have a broad understanding of how to architect Disaster Recovery and High Availability systems.

Review industry trends and new product lines to determine validity to current and future system design.

What you’ll need:

Twelve years (12) of experience as a Design Engineer, bringing projects from design to production, ideally in a broadcast field or similar 24/7 customer facing enterprise.

Ten (10) years of experience in broadcast and Media engineering or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT systems or equivalent, relevant experience.

Working experience or knowledge of Broadcast Media systems such as:

System Integration

Scheduling Software

Automation Systems

Playout Systems

Record Systems

Audio Routing, Control and Content Origination

Video Routing

Signal Processing

Media Asset Management

Familiarity with broadcast standards, such as SMPTE, AES, and MADI.

Working experience or knowledge of Network, Compute, Storage, VMWare, Operation Systems (Linux), Cloud Based Workflows, APIs, Security Protocols.

Certification, or formal training in Project Management processes such as Six Sigma, CAPM, PMP or Agile.

Project Management Skills including vendor interaction, preparation of documents for stakeholder acceptance and training.

Motivated to keep pace with rapidly evolving broadcast and IT technologies.

Systems documentation and operational procedures.

Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve.

General proficiency and working knowledge in all areas of media engineering.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $161,400 to $190,975 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
