The
Application Engineer III
position is responsible for overseeing our top customers by providing solutions, while supporting product, sales, and marketing activities for Regal Rexnord’s NA Motor Solutions business. This person will work closely with functions such as product management, customer service, manufacturing, supply chain, sales/marketing, and business development. Additionally, this person will participate in productivity, cost-out, and simplification projects. This position will be
hybrid , requiring onsite presence three days per week. While 100% onsite attendance is not necessary, face-to-face meetings will be important.Key responsibilities:Interacts with sales, marketing, product managers, customer service, and customers on a regular basis to translate customer requirements into product specifications that meet customer and Regal Rexnord business needs.Coordinates project inquiries and quotations, which includes CHVAC and air moving products.Visits customers to support sales and marketing for new business opportunities, installations, and troubleshooting.Develops training content for customers/distributors/internal customer support teams.Takes responsibility for and completes key tasks on a project-by-project basis and drives to meet deadlines ensuring project success.In conjunction with engineering, creates test plans to validate design concepts and material or manufacturing changes, summarizing results, and documenting conclusions.Resolves challenges related to the interpretation of drawings, design tolerances, quality, and material requirements.Responsible for product failure/troubleshooting at RRX and customer sites, and be the subject matter expert for technical support.Responsible for returned material analysis (RMA) and testing, conducts product tear-down analysis and populates data for benchmarking, root cause identification, corrective action forms, and failure analysis.Evaluates deviation or substitution requests from manufacturing/suppliers and provides guidance on resolution.Works closely with manufacturing, quality, and product engineering to problem-solve issues.Trains and mentors Application Engineer I and II and Engineering Technicians.Develops and follows standard procedures to facilitate scalable commercial & technical support.Performs other related duties as assigned.Experience and Skill Required:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering/mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience.7+ years of technical experience or equivalent.3+ years experience with applying or servicing electric motors, motor drives, and fan/blowers in heating, cooling, ventilation, and/or refrigeration applications.Experience in interacting with global cross-functional teams.Knowledge and experience in selection of materials, manufacturing processes, and drawing practices.Working experience in standards like NEMA, ANSI, DIN, ISO, API, ASTM, including many other industrial standards used by Regal Rexnord and the Regal Rexnord customer base.Experience in data-driven problem solving and troubleshooting at customer sites.Experience in supporting manufacturing and suppliers for alternative processes or materials.Computer proficiency in MS Office, with working knowledge of CRM, SAP/Oracle, or other ERP systems.Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to be an active listener.Flexibility with work hours to maintain a minimal backlog of projects or new customer opportunities.Some travel may be required.Desired Skills:Experience in responding to technical inquiries, ECNs, returned material analysis, product testing, benchmarking, and engineered to order designs.Advanced engineering/master’s degree preferred.Leadership qualities: Ability to effectively motivate individuals to meet strict project timelines.Decision making: Makes timely decisions based on data-driven results with calculated risks.Drive for results: Works hard and aligns/motivates resources to achieve set targets.Action Oriented: Readily takes on challenges without unnecessary planning; identifies and seizes new opportunities; steps up to handle tough challenges.Customer Focus: Gains insight into customer needs; identifies opportunities that benefit the customer; builds and delivers solutions that meet customer expectations; establishes and maintains effective customer relationships.Resourcefulness: Proactively seeks out resources to get things done; applies knowledge of internal structures, processes, and culture to resourcing efforts.Cultivates Innovation: Comes up with useful ideas that are new, better, or unique; introduces new ways of looking at problems; can take a creative idea and put it into practice; encourages diverse thinking to promote and nurture innovation.Interpersonal skills: Able to work in a team environment and interact with global locations to get the required information to complete customer orders or inquiries.Sense of urgency: Completes customer orders and technical inquiries within given time working closely with cross-functional teams.
